(1869-1948)

Mahatma Gandhi was the man who lead the Indian nationalism movement against British rule, and is known today as the father of India.

Gandhi’s approach to revolution was non-violent and non-cooperative with the British government, and because of his opposition he was put in prison many times.

Although it took many years to eventually create independence for India, Gandhi’s relentless organization of marches, boycotts, and fasting ended British rule.

The philosophies and ideas that he left us with are those of peace and endurance, and you may know his famous quote “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”.

We hope you enjoy learning about him!
